Screening for Species at Risk

With over 200 species at risk in Ontario alone, it is vital that areas of potential development are assessed and species protection strategies are developed prior to the initiation of a project.  Our species at risk screening process includes the following:

• Delineation of the area to be affected/developed

• Identification of species at risk occurring in the specified area, their habitat requirements, and species interactions

• Assessing the impacts (short and long-term) for species at risk and the ecosystem as a whole

With the initial screening completed and impacts identified, 3BEA will develop management and impact mitigation plans customized for the species and development project in question.
